Merbil is an island and a remarkable biodiversity hot spot. We took our
students with the objectives of knowing the biodiversity of that place and know
more about the importance of ecosystem.
Students were guided by Sri. Monimanik Gogoi Sir (Founder president of Sasoni Merbil Eco-tourism project) with the historical background and availability of flora and fauna in that project. He also appealed our students and all the members to protect and love environment. He also took us to a short tracking inside the forest and made us familiar with different medicinal plants and herbs.
We got the opportunity of bird watching in the nearby wetland with majestic Asian fauna. We sighted Purple Swamp-hen , Grey-headed Swamp-hen, cattle egret, Black Drongo, Common Darter hi, It is the home for migratory birds in winter season and habitat for variety of aquatic birds. The students enjoyed the sights of various birds and animals during the tour. We were mesmerized with the scenic beauty of Sasoni Merbil.
Overall, It was a new, interesting and informative experience for all of us. We all had a safe and enjoyable journey with lots of information. The students played, shared their tiffins and enjoyed playful moments creating memories for life.
