Universal Brotherhood Day

On the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day, a series of enlightening programs and activities were organized to promote the values of unity, cooperation, and mutual understanding among students and educators. The event spanned three institutions: Ekalavya Junior College, Bhadoi Junior College, and Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) NEEPCO Bokuloni.

Events at Ekalavya Junior College



A team of teachers visited Ekalavya Junior College, where a total of 60 participants, including students and teachers, attended the program. The event was anchored by
Shabnam Kataky, and the elocution competition was judged by Richa Gogoi and Ramen Bhatra, a teacher from Ekalavya Junior College.

Highlights of the event included:

  • Introduction to Vivekananda Kendra and its activities.
  • A swadhyay (self-study) session on "Bharat Jagran" focusing on India's cultural and spiritual awakening.
  • The following participants were awarded for their outstanding performances:
    • 1st Prize: Amrin Ahmed
    • 2nd Prize: Deepshikha Mech
    • 3rd Prize: Bhoben Sonowal

Events at Bhadoi Junior College


At Bhadoi Junior College, a similar program was conducted, where the students gave a special presentation. The event focused on Vivekananda Kendra's activities and ideology.
Papu Didi shared the significance of the event, while Samar Chiring Sir spoke on the broader mission of Vivekananda Kendra. A special award was presented to a deserving student, recognizing their contribution to the day's activities.

Celebrations at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya NEEPCO Bokuloni

At VKV NEEPCO Bokuloni, the school conducted its Universal Brotherhood Day celebration in the presence of students, parents, and distinguished guests.

The program began with Mangalacharan followed by a welcome speech by the school's principal, Smt. Meghna Kakoty Didi. Other highlights included:

  • A group song by the students.
  • A speech on Swami Vivekananda delivered by Enistha Chetia.
  • A short video presentation showcasing the achievements of the invited guests.
  • Felicitation ceremony where guests shared their experiences and inspired the audience:
    • Dr. Prabin Kumar Baruah, a pediatrician with over 13 years of service in Assam government hospitals and then 18 years in Coal India Ltd. , from where he retired as a Deputy CMO. Currently he is an active member of the Indian Association of Pediatrics and the Indian Medical Association.
    • Dr. Prashanta Saikia, a dedicated educator and secretary of the Rural Development Committee at Chi-Chia Girls School, known for promoting discipline and moral values among students.
    • Dr. Nabin Boruah, an environmentalist and OIL Duliajan employee, renowned for his efforts in preserving nature and raising environmental awareness among youth.

As a special highlight of the day, Dr. Nabin Boruah planted various tree saplings on the Vidyalaya premises, adding significant meaning to the event. This act symbolized the values of growth, sustainability, and environmental responsibility, aligning with the message of unity and service conveyed throughout the program.

The event concluded with a  Shanti Path by the students.

Conclusion

The Universal Brotherhood Day celebration across these institutions was a great success, fostering the spirit of unity and brotherhood among the participants. Through the active involvement of students, teachers, and the esteemed guests, the message of service to society, environmental consciousness, and cultural upliftment was effectively conveyed.
