Inspired by the challenges and potentialities of Indian culture, as expressed by Mananeeya Nivedita Didi, VKV Bokuloni observes Karam Puja on 3rd September 2025, a celebration in which nature is worshipped. Nivedita Didi beautifully articulates this ethos: "Everything in this existence is viewed as interconnected, interrelated, and interdependent."
The programme began with Manglacharan, creating a devotional atmosphere. Veer Sir initiated the celebration with a speech, highlighting the significance of Karam Puja and its traditional importance among the Tea Tribes. His words inspired students to appreciate the cultural diversity and ecological wisdom embedded in the festival.
The event was further graced by Respected Principal Smt. Meghna Kakoty, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the need to uphold cultural traditions while fostering unity and respect for the environment.
Adding joy to the celebration, the students of Classes I and II presented a vibrant group dance performance, showcasing their enthusiasm and innocence. Their presentation brought festive spirit to the occasion and was warmly appreciated by all present.
The festival also has mythological roots. The story associated with Karam Puja involves the deities Karam Raja and Karam Devi, reflecting themes of harmony, devotion, and the balance between nature and human life. During the observation, our teacher narrated stories related to Karam Puja, providing moral and ethical lessons derived from their cultural folklore.
The celebration of Karam Puja at VKV Bokuloni not only connected students to local traditions but also nurtured values of cultural pride, environmental consciousness, and community harmony.
