Date: 24 November
Lachit Divas, observed every year on November 24, commemorates the unparalleled courage and leadership of Lachit Borphukan, the legendary commander of the Ahom Kingdom who safeguarded Assam by defeating the Mughal forces in the historic Battle of Saraighat (1671).
At VKV (NEEPCO) Bokuloni, the day was observed with deep respect and enthusiasm. During the morning assembly, Priyanka Didi delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of the day. She spoke about the heroic life of Lachit Borphukan, emphasizing how his bravery, patriotism, and strategic excellence played a decisive role in resisting Mughal expansion.
After the assembly, a short programme was conducted in the prayer hall, attended by students of Classes 7, 8, and 9. Students presented speeches and poems showcasing the valor and leadership of Lachit Borphukan.
To further enhance understanding, a documentary video on his life and bravery was shown to the students. The visual presentation helped them connect deeply with Lachit Borphukan’s struggle, dedication, and sacrifice for the motherland.
The programme concluded with Śānti Pātha, offering prayers for peace and harmony.
